Patch search mode

If a job has patch-level features, additional search modes are presented.

  • Patch mode: In this mode, the patches within the bounding box in the search query image are matched with patches in the target images.

  • Full object: A patch search with full object toggle searches in a mode where objects within the bounding box marked on the search query image are searched for in target images.

Once you have selected the image sample:

  1. Set the Results Size as required. The default is 100.

  2. Click the Search button.
Images matching the sample image are displayed in the right panel.

  3. Click the Save option to save the search. A saved search can be named and retrieved later to rerun.

  4. Modify the search sample from the Settings option, as shown below:

Search result panel controls

The search result panel has a 'Settings' button, as marked in the above screenshot. Clicking this button opens up a dropdown with options as below:

  1. Show score: This option displays a match score on the top right of each thumbnail in the search results. The score value ranges from 0 to 1, with 1 indicating the best match. It is worth noting that scores are relative to the images in the search results, which means that a score of N in two different similarity search results may not necessarily correspond to the same level of visual similarity.

  2. Show Matching Regions: If the search run was a patch search, you can control the Matching Region by setting the transparency level between 0 and 1, where 0 = transparent and 1 = opaque. With this option, a mask is applied to the thumbnail, with the mask's opacity proportional to the match score of the specific region in the search result image. A higher opacity implies a higher match score on that region of the search result image.  This allows you to gather insight into which specific areas in the image contributed to its appearance in the search results.

  3. Sim Search Score threshold: This value, ranging from 0 to 1, specifies the score threshold below which results should be filtered out from the search results.
